Back To School

It’s beginning of August, which for many means heading back to school. Whether you are a teacher, student, or parent your main focus during this month is getting back in the grove of things. Entering a new school year can be exciting for some, however it can also be stressful and nerve racking for others. That’s where I come in - as a therapist who works primarily with adolescents and parents, I saw a need for a therapy group that focuses specifically on navigating through change. This group could be a great opportunity for teen girls to explore those feelings of stress and anxiety surrounding entering into a new school year and all that it entails. It also creates an opportunity for girls to get to know other girls their own age who are having the same concerns as they are.

When creating this group, my goal was to come up with a curriculum that would be fun for girls and not feel like a psycho-educational group. For that reason I’ve included fun activities for each session that will help the girls engage in the topics we discuss while still being able to have a helpful take-away. Each week we will explore a different topic including personal values, goal setting, self-care and coping skills. The overall goal of the group is for each of these topics to help the girls navigate through their personal journey with change and looking towards their future.
